The event commemorated two important milestones: the 75th anniversary of the 1951 Geneva Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees and the 45th anniversary of the Philippines' accession to the Convention in 1981. It brought together representatives from Government Agencies, the United Nations Agencies, Diplomatic Missions, CSOs, Refugee leaders, Scholars, and other partners committed to refugee protection.
The exhibition showcased the Philippines' proud humanitarian legacy through historical archives, personal stories, and interactive installations, highlighting the country's enduring commitment and tradition to providing safe refuge, protection, dignity, and durable solutions for refugees and other forcibly displaced persons.
PACCI extends its sincere appreciation to the Department of Justice - Refugees and Stateless Persons Protection Unit (DOJ-RSPPU) and the Department of Foreign Affairs - Office of United Nations International Organizations (DFA-UNIO) for organizing this meaningful event. We also thank UNHCR Philippines, Pathways Pilipinas, and all partners whose continued collaboration strengthens refugee protection and inclusion in the country.
As the country's only duly registered refugee-led organization, PACCI remains committed to working hand in hand with government agencies, international organizations, civil society, and refugee communities to promote protection, empowerment, self-reliance, social inclusion, and lasting solutions for refugees, asylum seekers, and stateless persons.
